A resident of Noida has been confirmed positive for Covid-19, marking the first case of infection in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, in several months, according to officials. The identified patient is a 54-year-old male residing in Noida, employed at a multinational company in Gurugram, as reported by Gautam Buddh Nagar Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sunil Sharma, on Thursday.

Dr. Sharma stated, “His test sample has been sent to Delhi for genome sequencing. The result is awaited.”

Providing additional details, District Surveillance Officer and public healthcare expert Dr. Amit Kumar mentioned that the patient had recently traveled to Nepal earlier in the month and subsequently returned to work at his Gurugram office. The situation is being closely monitored as health authorities await further information from the genome sequencing analysis.

The identified patient is asymptomatic and voluntarily underwent a COVID-19 test, stated Mr. Kumar, emphasizing that this remains the sole confirmed case in Gautam Buddh Nagar thus far.

CMO Sharma highlighted a decline in virus testing within the district this year. He encouraged residents to avail themselves of COVID-19 testing facilities at primary and community health centers, as well as the district hospital.

Expressing concerns about a potential resurgence of infections, the healthcare department issued a plea for residents to adhere to COVID-appropriate measures, underlining the importance of collective efforts in curbing the spread of the virus.
