In a disturbing turn of events, it has been revealed that the four-year-old boy abducted in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, was sold to a couple in the Indrapuri locality of Koderma district for a sum of ₹2.95 lakh. The couple, identified as Geeta Devi and Rohit Ravidas, reportedly sought to expand their family lineage, which led to their involvement in this illicit transaction, as stated by a police official.

Jyoti Kumari and Kanhiya Kumar, aware of the couple’s desire for adoption, presented themselves as intermediaries claiming knowledge of an NGO specializing in adoption services. Exploiting this opportunity, a deal was struck at ₹2.95 lakh. The couple provided an advance payment of ₹1.7 lakh to Jyoti and Kanhiya.

To execute the nefarious plan, Jyoti and Kanhiya enlisted the help of Nutan Devi, a resident of the kidnapped boy’s locality. Nutan, in turn, engaged Kareena Devi to keep watch over the child. On December 18, Nutan carried out the abduction and handed the boy over to Jyoti and Kanhiya, who subsequently delivered the child to the awaiting couple in Koderma. The remaining amount of ₹1.25 lakh was then received by Jyoti and Kanhiya.

The distressing situation came to light when the parents, unable to trace their son, filed a complaint with the Lohsingna police station in Hazaribagh. Responding to the complaint, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was swiftly formed under the guidance of Hazaribag SP Manoj Ratan Chothe to investigate the matter thoroughly. This revelation exposes a disturbing web of deceit and exploitation surrounding the illicit sale and adoption of the abducted child.
