“Gulam Jilani, a 55-year-old third-generation tailor from Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district, proudly presents a 40-foot-long and 42-foot-wide ‘Mahaviri’ flag destined for Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. This magnificent creation is set to be hoisted on January 22, adding a special touch to the historic occasion.

Jilani, specializing in crafting religious flags, expressed his pride in contributing to the dream of over 100 crore people as his flag takes its place atop the Ram Temple. Eager to be part of the historic moment, he expressed his desire to attend the inauguration ceremony in Ayodhya.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22. The sprawling 70-acre temple complex features 392 pillars and a 14-feet-wide ‘percota’ periphery spanning 732 meters.

Jilani’s skills were honed under the guidance of his late father, Abdul Shakur, who passed away four decades ago at the age of 80. Recalling his early days, Jilani mentioned working alongside his father at Bhola Vastralaya. The 40-foot flag, bearing images of Lord Hanuman on one side and Lord Ram and Lakshman on the shoulders of Lord Hanuman on the other, is a testament to his craftsmanship, as stated by Veer Vastralaya owner Devendra Jain.”

“Gulam Jilani’s Contribution to Hindu-Muslim Unity Through Religious Flags

Gulam Jilani, a skilled tailor from Jharkhand, has played a significant role in fostering Hindu-Muslim unity in the region by crafting thousands of Ram Navami and Mahaviri flags. According to Devendra Jain, owner of Veer Vastralaya, Jilani’s workshop, this commitment to unity is exemplified by a recent creation—a remarkable 40-foot flag set to grace the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

Jain revealed that the order for this special flag came from Naval Kishore Khandelwal, a prominent RSS leader from Barabazar Hazaribag. Khandelwal, aged 81, is noted for his association with the group led by veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani during the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.

The intricate flag, completed in just 10 days and ready by December 26, will be transported to Ayodhya by Khandelwal and his group ahead of the temple’s inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jain shared that 150 meters of cloth were utilized for the flag, which will adorn a 100-foot-long pole at the temple. The production cost for this symbolic creation is ₹21,000. Veer Vastralaya, established in 1977, annually produces over 2 lakh flags catering to various religions.

Jain proudly mentioned that they receive international orders for flags during festivals like Ram Navami and Shivratri. In a recorded statement, Khandelwal acknowledged his involvement in the Babri Masjid demolition, revealing that he had been arrested and imprisoned for three months at Hazaribag Central Jail.”
