The district court found itself surprised when an elephant unexpectedly made its way inside. The Uttarakhand forest department swiftly assembled a team to safely guide the elephant back to its native habitat.
Disorder erupted at the district court in Haridwar, Uttarakhand when an elephant forcefully broke through the gate, gaining entry onto the premises. A video capturing this incident was posted on X by Dr. PM Dhakate, an Indian Forest Officer. In addition to the video, he provided a comprehensive account of the startling event.
“In regions bordering jungles, numerous incidents have occurred where Elephants ventured into Haridwar. One such instance took place at the District Collector’s office, where an Elephant approached the main gate of the District Court Judiciary and forcibly opened it. This Elephant’s ability to navigate familiar routes is credited to its exceptional memory. Following extensive efforts, the Uttarakhand Forest Department’s team took proactive measures to guide the elephant back to its native habitat,” as stated by Dr. PM Dhakate in the accompanying post.
In the brief footage, an elephant is seen wandering outside the courthouse. Amidst a crowd shouting for the elephant to move away, it suddenly charges toward the court, forcefully crashing through the main gate.
