Bengaluru, The South Western Railway announced the completion of a trial run for the Vande Bharat Express, covering the route from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru Cantonment and back on Wednesday.
The trial run marks a significant step towards the official commencement of regular services between Bengaluru and Coimbatore. Railway officials have indicated that the inaugural run for this route is anticipated to take place on December 30, coinciding with the launch of another Vande Bharat Express running from Mangaluru in coastal Karnataka to Madgaon in Goa.
The Vande Bharat Express embarked on its journey from Coimbatore at 5 am, reaching Bengaluru Cantonment at 10.38 am. This trial run is a crucial phase in ensuring the readiness and efficiency of the train service before it becomes operational for the public.
During the trial run, Bengaluru Divisional Railway Manager Yogesh Mohan and other officers visited Bengaluru Cantonment to inspect the train. Their presence underscores the importance of ensuring that all aspects of the train service, including safety and functionality, are thoroughly evaluated and meet the required standards.

The railway authorities also revealed that, following the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express services on the Bengaluru-Coimbatore route, details regarding their regular schedules and fares will be officially disclosed. This initiative will contribute to Karnataka’s connectivity with a total of five Vande Bharat trains, enhancing the efficiency and convenience of rail travel for passengers in the region.
