Narendra Modi’s visit to Ayodhya marks the unveiling of Phase 1 of the cutting-edge Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, constructed at an expenditure exceeding ₹1,450 crore.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in the sacred city of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. This inauguration followed the launch of the revamped Ayodhya railway station and the commencement of two Amrit Bharat and six Vande Bharat trains, with some ceremonies conducted virtually.
The inaugural stage of the cutting-edge airport has been completed, requiring an investment exceeding ₹1450 crore. The terminal structure spans 6,500 square meters, designed to accommodate approximately 10 lakh passengers each year. Notably, the terminal’s exterior showcases the architectural style of the forthcoming Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Local art, including paintings and murals showcasing the life of Lord Ram, embellish the interior of the terminal building. Alongside these artistic features, the Ayodhya airport terminal boasts numerous sustainability elements. These include insulated roofing, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaped fountains, water and sewage treatment plants, a solar power installation, and more. These provisions aim to achieve GRIHA – 5-star ratings by prioritizing eco-friendly initiatives.
The expansion of the airport is poised to enhance regional connectivity, fostering an upsurge in tourism, business ventures, and job prospects. Modi has articulated his plan to cultivate cutting-edge infrastructure in Ayodhya, augment connectivity, and enhance civic amenities while honoring the city’s profound historical and cultural legacy.
Several new projects will commence with the laying of foundation stones, aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal and refurbishing civic amenities in the vicinity of the temple town.
