Maruti sold 203,500 units of the Swift in 2023.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift secured its position as the top-selling car in India for the calendar year (CY) 2023, surpassing popular models like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s leading car manufacturer, achieved sales of 203,500 units of the Swift in CY23.
The Swift comes with a price range of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s worth noting that prices are expected to increase following Maruti’s announced hike across its entire portfolio in January.
At the core of the Swift lies a robust 1.2-litre K-Series Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol engine, delivering an impressive 89.7PS of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. This powerhouse can be coupled with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT, providing versatile transmission options. Additionally, for those inclined towards CNG, there’s an option with 77.5PS and 98.5Nm, paired with a 5-speed MT.
Anticipated to make its debut in India in 2024, the new Swift has already been spotted undergoing testing in the country. Initially showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 as a ‘concept,’ the model appears nearly production-ready.
Maruti’s Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava, recently shared with India that the automaker is set to maintain its momentum in 2024 with the introduction of new products, full and minor model changes, and various upgrades.
