In recent years, the SUV market in India has experienced exceptional growth, with buyers opting toward cars that provide a commanding driving experience, substantial room, and the ability to handle varied terrains. Because of the huge demand for high-performance SUVs, manufacturers are pushing the frontiers of engineering and design to produce a new breed of high-performance SUVs. Let’s have a look at the most powerful SUV one can obtain if money is no object.

The Eletre R comes with a 109kWh battery and has a claimed range of about 490km. The Lotus Eletre R is priced at Rs 2.99 crore.


Lotus Eletre R

The recently introduced Lotus Eletre SUV has made its debut in the Indian market, and notably, it is the sole electric vehicle featured in this lineup. While the Eletre is available in a less potent variant, our focus is on the Eletre R, boasting an impressive 918PS and 985Nm of torque. The R variant achieves a top speed of 265kmph, and it accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in a mere 2.9 seconds.

Aston Martin DBX 707

The Aston Martin DBX707 is equipped with a modified 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, boasting enhanced performance with 707 PS and 900 Nm of torque. This powerful engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that ensures power is distributed to all four wheels. The claimed acceleration of 0-100kmph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 311 kmph further highlight the impressive capabilities of this luxury vehicle.

The Aston Martin DBX 707 is the most expensive SUV on this list and is priced at Rs 4.63 crore.

Lamborghini Urus Performante

The Urus Performante boosts its performance with an additional 16PS generated by its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, increasing the outputs to 666PS and 850 Nm. It achieves a 0 to 100 kmph time of 3.3s and boasts a top speed of 306 kmph. Furthermore, the power-to-weight ratio sees improvement with a 47 kg reduction in weight.

The Urus Performante is priced at Rs 4.22 crore.

BMW XM

The BMW XM is equipped with a powertrain consisting of a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, a 29.5kWh battery pack, and an electric motor. The petrol engine generates 489PS and 650Nm of torque, and the electric motor contributes 197PS and 280Nm. It’s important to highlight that the total combined output is officially rated at 653PS and 800Nm of torque.

With an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive, the XM can achieve 0-100kmph in just 4.3 seconds. Being a plug-in hybrid, the SUV promises a WLTP-tested EV-only range of up to 88km with a top speed of 140kmph. The BMW XM is priced at Rs 2.60 crore.

Audi RSQ8

The Audi RS Q8 boasts an impressive design, offering a spacious cabin coupled with a powerful 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This engine, with 600PS and 800Nm of torque, is shared with the Urus, both being part of the VW Group.

Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, the RSQ8 is priced at Rs 2.22 crore.
