Maruti Suzuki’s Triumph: Selling 1.Lakh Cars in December 2023

Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1.36 lakh cars in December 2023, including an export of 26,884 units. Further, the numbers also include the sale of products to other OEMs, which accounted for 4,175 units alone.

In CY23, Maruti Suzuki successfully retailed 17.08 lakh cars nationwide, complemented by the export of 2.69 lakh units during the corresponding period. Additionally, the company achieved a noteworthy milestone by selling 54,493 units to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) throughout the year, resulting in the total sales reaching an impressive 20.31 lakh units.

Concerning year-on-year sales, the mini sub-segment, encompassing models like the Alto and the S-Presso, experienced a decline from 9,765 units in December 2022 to 2,557 units in December 2023. Similarly, the compact sub-segment, which includes models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Wagon R, Ignis, Swift, Dzire, and the Tour S, observed a decrease from 57,502 units to 45,741 year-on-year in December 2023.

The mid-size segment, encompassing models like the Maruti Ciaz, and the van category, represented by the Eeco, experienced a decline from 1,154 units to 489 units and 10,581 units to 10,034 units, respectively. The sole segment that witnessed growth was the Utility Vehicles category, incorporating models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny, S-Cross, and the XL6. This category observed an increase from 33,008 units in December 2022 to 45,957 units in December 2023.
