Honda is here with a slimmer H to herald its new electric vehicles.

Honda is set to introduce a revamped logo for its electric vehicles (EVs). The company is giving a modern touch to its iconic “H mark,” a symbol that has adorned all its cars since 1981. The updated logo, described as representing “two outstretched hands,” is a sleeker, minimalist rendition of the current H, sans the trapezoid border.

Interestingly, the new logo bears a remarkable resemblance to Honda’s original emblem. Originating in 1963 (shown in the historical timeline below), the initial H featured a similarly slim, top-heavy design, though it was wider rather than taller. This emblem had a brief stint in America, gracing the 1969 N600, the first car the company sold, before undergoing a redesign in 1969.

Honda is set to unveil its new H logo, which will adorn upcoming 0 Series electric cars. The 0 Series represents a new generation of EVs with a clean-sheet design, scheduled for introduction to the American market starting in 2026. These electric vehicles will feature their distinct branding. The initial offerings in the 0 Series include conceptual models named the Saloon and the Space-Hub—a sedan and a van, both characterized by a futuristic wedge-shaped exterior. Honda has officially stated that the Saloon concept will serve as inspiration for a future production model destined for American roads, marking the debut of the new H emblem in the United States.

There is no confirmation on whether this newly designed “H” emblem will be coupled with the spelled-out Honda badging on the rear of the upcoming EV SUV, the Prologue, or if the Prologue will adopt the new emblem in a subsequent facelift. Honda has not explicitly emphasized the connections to the company’s initial car logo. Still, considering the current trend of reviving nostalgic nameplates at Honda and in the automotive industry as a whole, one might speculate about the potential introduction of callback advertisements or models in the company’s future.
