Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is preparing for the imminent launch of its highly anticipated adventure motorcycle, the NX500. Information from dealer sources indicates that the bike may hit the market in the near future, and unofficial bookings are already underway with a nominal token amount of Rs. 50,000.
The NX500 is set to succeed the previously available CB500X, boasting a larger and more aspirational appearance. The NX500 features a prominent LED headlight, accompanied by LED turn indicators, and is enhanced by a transparent visor. Additionally, crash guards are present to safeguard the engine and front end, although these may be offered as accessories.
Under the hood, the upcoming Honda ADV is equipped with a 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. This powerplant delivers 47bhp and 43Nm of torque. The engine is housed within a diamond frame and is supported by Show 41mm Separate Function Big Piston front USD forks and a five-step adjustable linked rear shock. The braking system includes dual 296mm front discs and a single 240mm rear disc, featuring dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. The NX500’s elevated stance is complemented by 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, outfitted with 110/80 front and 160/60 rear tires.
Honda has introduced various functionalities such as LED lighting, traction management, ABS, and a five-inch TFT display with smartphone integration. The latter empowers users to manage music, phone calls, and text messages, while also providing access to turn-by-turn navigation features.
Anticipated to be priced between Rs. 7 lakh and Rs. 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom), we foresee the NX500 competing with the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Moto Morini X-Cape in the market.
