  • The Raptee e-motorcycle will support CCS2 fast charging.
  • Raptee has established its EV factory in Chennai to produce the model.

EV startup Raptee Energy recently revealed its latest concept for an electric motorcycle at the Global Investors Meet in Tamil Nadu. The company plans to release the electric motorcycle in April this year, marking its expansion into this market alongside its current lineup of electric scooters.

The forthcoming electric motorcycle from Raptee aims for a maximum speed of 135 kmph, with the company asserting a practical range of 150 km on a single charge. The concept model was presented with translucent panels, a feature becoming increasingly prevalent in designs, similar to what we’ve observed with the Ather 450 Apex and Jitendra EV Primo e-scooter.

Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-founder of Raptee Energy, emphasized the importance of Raptee’s accomplishment, expressing, “Our inaugural presentation of our motorcycles couldn’t have taken place at a more fitting occasion. The TN GIM attracted suppliers and investors globally, and the excitement around our booth was palpable! Being more than just a vehicle integrator and having developed the complete stack in India intrigued everyone. Our indigenous high voltage powertrain not only delivers remarkable torque and consistent top speed but also meets the longstanding demand for reliable e-motorcycles. With a foundation on a High Voltage powertrain, Raptee Motorcycles will stand out as the exclusive two-wheelers compatible with the rapidly expanding CCS2 public charging infrastructure.”

Jayapradeep Vasudevan, CBO of Raptee Energy, remarked, “We are impressed by the reception of our initial showcase of Raptee at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors meet in 2024. We have received significant interest from potential investors and suppliers. The customer turnout spanned various age groups, predominantly college students and bike enthusiasts. We are optimistic that this positive consumer response will translate into strong demand when we officially launch the product in a few months. Our team is extremely excited at the moment and eagerly anticipating an exhilarating launch.”

Raptee asserts that the electric motorcycle concept will feature CCS2 charging compatibility, facilitating rapid charging and enabling the model to reach 80% charge in just 45 minutes. The e-motorcycle is expected to charge for 40 km in 15 minutes. While complete specifications are yet to be unveiled, Raptee claims an impressive 0-60 kmph time of 3.5 seconds.

Raptee states it has already established its inaugural factory in Chennai, covering 4 acres with a planned investment of Rs. 85 crore. The facility will house an R&D Centre and have the capacity to manufacture up to 1 lakh units annually, serving as the company’s production hub for the next two years. The plant is anticipated to employ around 470 personnel for manufacturing and design, including a specialized battery pack assembly line.
