Sitharaman claimed that the Stalin government has banned the broadcast of all programmes on Ayodhya from January 22 to 24.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asserted on Sunday that the Tamil Nadu government under MK Stalin has reportedly restricted the viewing of the live broadcast of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya scheduled for January 22.

“In TN, there exist more than 200 temples dedicated to Shri Ram. Within HR&CE-managed temples, any form of puja, bhajan, prasadam, or annadanam associated with Shri Ram is purportedly prohibited. Police actions extend to privately organized temple events, with threats to dismantle pandals. This alleged anti-Hindu stance is deeply condemned,” she expressed in a tweet.

Sitharaman, in a subsequent tweet, contended that individuals faced intimidation for hosting bhajans, providing meals to the underprivileged, and partaking in joyous celebrations. “Cable TV operators have reportedly been cautioned about a potential power shutdown during the live broadcast. These actions are attributed to the anti-Hindu initiatives of I.N.D.I Alliance partner DMK,” she stated.

Contrarily, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department minister Sekar Babu refuted Sitharaman’s assertions, maintaining that there is no prohibition in Tamil Nadu temples on conducting ‘pujas’ for Ram or offering ‘annadhanam’.

“HR&CE has not imposed any ban in Tamil Nadu temples on ‘pujas’ for Ram or offering ‘annadhanam.’ It is regrettable that individuals in prominent positions, such as Nirmala Seetharaman, are spreading misinformation contrary to the facts,” declared the minister.
