Nineteen days after an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team faced an assault by a mob, ED investigators conducted another raid at the residence of absconding Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh in North 24 Parganas district. The raid, conducted on Wednesday morning, is part of the ED’s investigation into an alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam. The ED officers, accompanied by over 120 personnel from the central armed police force, forcefully entered Sheikh’s residence in the Sandeshkhali area, breaking open the collapsible gate in the presence of local police and two witnesses. The officers locked the gates from inside and initiated searches. The ED had previously faced violence on January 5 when attempting to enter the TMC leader’s residence.
