The smart hybrid technology, known as SHVS in Maruti Suzuki’s terminology, has made a comeback in select variants of the Brezza SUV. The tech was removed from the MT versions of the car back in July last year.

The SHVS technology has experienced a resurgence in the ZXi and ZXi+ editions. Initially, this functionality was exclusively available in the automatic variants. Following the incorporation of this capability, the fuel efficiency of these editions has seen a boost of 2.51kmpl, resulting in an elevated range from 17.38kmpl to 19.89kmpl. For those unfamiliar, the AT and CNG models are asserted to achieve a fuel efficiency of 19.80kmpl and 25.51kmkg, respectively.

The sub-four-meter SUV, Brezza, is equipped with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine generating 102bhp and 137Nm of torque. The CNG variant, on the other hand, is tuned down, delivering 87bhp and 121Nm. The available transmission choices comprise a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The starting price for the Brezza is Rs. 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Importantly, it should be noted that the automaker has kept the prices unchanged for these updated versions, despite an imminent price increase set to take effect this month across the entire model lineup.
