Today, India is joyfully celebrating its 75th Republic Day with a grand display of its armed forces’ strength and vibrant cultural heritage at the Kartavya Path, situated in the heart of the national capital. Adding to the significance of the occasion, French President Emmanuel Macron graces the event as the esteemed chief guest.
This year’s Republic Day parade revolves around the twin themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Bharat – Loktantra Ki Matruka’ (India – Symbol of Democracy). A remarkable 13,000 special guests participate in the parade, symbolizing the diversity and unity of the nation.
Prior to the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial in Delhi. Leading the nation in a moment of solemnity, he laid a wreath at this iconic memorial, inaugurated in 2019 within the India Gate complex.
Across different parts of the country, celebrations are in full swing. In Agartala, school children enthusiastically took part in the Republic Day festivities, embodying the spirit of patriotism and unity. Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hoisted the national flag at his residence in Patna, spreading joy by distributing sweets among students and citizens.
In a grand ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag, marking the beginning of the military and cultural pageantry that includes colorful tableaux representing various states of India.
Adding an international flair to the celebrations, Kartavya Path witnessed a magnificent march past by a combined band and marching contingent from the French armed forces, further enhancing the spirit of camaraderie and cooperation between nations.
