Hero MotoCorp recently revealed their highly anticipated scooter, the Xoom 160, in India at the Hero World 2024 event. This scooter made its global debut at the 2023 EICMA Show in Italy.
The Xoom 160 marks Hero MotoCorp’s inaugural foray into the realm of larger scooters. Currently, the Indian market lacks such a scooter, and Hero aims to be the pioneer in this segment. While some Japanese and European manufacturers do produce similar scooters, they are predominantly available in European and US markets.
The aesthetics of the Xoom 160 are commendable, owing to its tall body proportions. Notable features include a sizable windscreen, a distinctive pair of V-shaped headlights, and a beak reminiscent of adventure motorcycles. The side profile reveals maxi-scooter influences, highlighted by the central spine. To enhance its touring capabilities, the scooter features a single seat and a spacious floorboard area. Hero intends to provide optional large top boxes as part of the accessory lineup.
Under the hood, the Hero Xoom 160 boasts a novel 156cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Unfortunately, specific power figures remain undisclosed, with the potential for their revelation in the near future. Standard components include telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks, complemented by front and rear disc brakes mounted on 14-inch wheels featuring block-pattern tires. The scooter’s feature set includes LED lighting, a smart key, an ignition dial, remote key ignition, and a smart find feature.
Hero MotoCorp plans to launch the Xoom 160 within the next six months, targeting an estimated ex-showroom price of around Rs 1.3 lakh. The scooter will be available in a diverse range of appealing colors and will offer a variety of accessory options.
