Cold weather and dense fog persisted across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar on Sunday, causing disruptions in various modes of transportation including flights and trains. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature not expected to exceed 21 degrees Celsius.

At the Indira Gandhi International Airport, numerous flights faced delays due to adverse weather conditions. Similarly, trains departing from the New Delhi Railway Station experienced delays owing to the dense fog enveloping the region.

Early morning commuters in the national capital expressed struggles in coping with the harsh weather conditions. Jithendra, a commuter traveling to Noida, remarked on the difficulty posed by the cold weather, highlighting the challenge of waiting for transportation amidst the chilling temperatures.

Angith Sing, another commuter, shared his experience of having to halt his bike journey due to the severe cold. After completing a night shift and heading home from Jor Bagh, Angith Sing found it impractical to continue riding his bike, opting to take a brief break instead.

The drop in temperatures has compelled residents to layer up for warmth, with some recalling previous years when lighter clothing sufficed during this period. IMD data indicated that the minimum temperature in Delhi fell below the seasonal average, with Saturday recording a minimum of 4.3 degrees Celsius, a departure of 4 degrees Celsius from the norm.

IMD reports also highlighted “very dense” fog conditions in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, along with “dense fog” in Tripura. Visibility was significantly reduced in various regions, including Varanasi, Purnea, Bahraich, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Kailashahar, and Patna.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, devotees persevered to visit religious sites such as Rampath for darshan of Ram Lalla at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Similarly, devotees gathered at the Hanumangarhi Temple in Ayodhya, undeterred by the early morning cold.

The persistent cold and fog not only disrupted daily life and travel plans but also demonstrated the resilience and dedication of individuals in pursuing their religious beliefs amidst challenging weather conditions.
