Three private security guards at a group housing complex in Greater Noida West found themselves in legal trouble on Monday. They were apprehended for allegedly assaulting residents of the society following a dispute, as confirmed by the police.
The altercation stemmed from an incident late Sunday night at the Amrapali Leisure Park Society in the Techzone 4 area, falling within the jurisdiction of the Bisrakh police station. Trouble began when a delivery person arrived at the society, only to be denied entry by the guards.
Videos capturing the altercation soon circulated on social media platforms, revealing the guards’ aggressive behavior towards the residents. Some individuals attempting to document the incident were also reportedly subjected to physical assault by the guards.
According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation arose because the delivery person lacked authorization through a specific app required by the society for visitor entry approval. This led to a heated exchange between the residents and the guards.
In his complaint to the police, Abnish Kumar, a 40-year-old resident and employee of a private company, recounted being subjected to brutal assault by the guards at the society’s main gate. Kumar alleged that during the assault, the guards accused him of not paying maintenance fees and criticized his intervention in support of a female resident awaiting the delivery.
Kumar further claimed that the guards’ audacity stemmed from their perceived backing by the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of the society. He asserted that evidence of the assault could be substantiated through CCTV footage.
Responding to the incident, the ad hoc AOA of the society issued a statement announcing the termination of the services of the implicated security agency. The statement also sought to clarify that the AOA bore no responsibility for the altercation, emphasizing that it was a matter solely between a resident and the security guards.
The incident underscores the importance of conflict resolution and the need for accountability in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents within communal living spaces. It also highlights the role of responsible governance and the imperative of addressing grievances promptly and impartially to maintain peace and harmony within residential communities.
