In Kerala, a court issued a verdict on Tuesday, condemning all 15 individuals linked to the now-forbidden Islamist organization Popular Front of India (PFI) for their involvement in the murder of BJP OBC wing leader Ranjith Sreenivasan in December 2021 within this district. The prosecution had urged for the harshest punishment for the convicts, asserting that they constituted a “trained killer squad.” The manner in which the victim was brutally murdered before his mother, infant, and wife was described as exceptionally heinous, qualifying it as one of the “rarest of the rare” crimes.
