In the post-budget meeting, the finance minister will address the board members and talk about announcements made in the interim Budget 2024-25.

The Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, is set to address the central board of the Reserve Bank of India on February 12, highlighting essential points of the interim Union Budget. Sitharaman will unveil the sixth Budget on February 1, outlining the roadmap for 2024-25.

During the post-budget meeting, the finance minister will speak to the board members about the announcements made in the interim Budget 2024-25. The meeting follows shortly after the Budget session and the final session of the 17th Lok Sabha, ending on February 9.

It’s tradition for the finance minister to speak to the Reserve Bank of India board post-Budget. Prior to the finance minister’s address, the RBI plans to reveal its last bi-monthly monetary policy review on February 8.

By presenting her sixth straight Budget on February 1, she will match the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai. Sitharaman, the country’s first full-time female finance minister, has presented five full budgets since July 2019 and will deliver an interim or vote-on-account budget this week.

With the interim Budget presentation on February 1, she will surpass the records of her predecessors like Manmohan Singh, Arun Jaitley, P Chidambaram, and Yashwant Sinha, who each presented five budgets in a row. Desai, during his tenure as finance minister, delivered five annual Budgets and one interim Budget between 1959 and 1964.
