In Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, after the Republic Day celebration at a government school, a troubling incident occurred. Around 58 children fell sick, likely due to food poisoning, after eating the meal provided. An official from the district reported this on Friday.

The majority of the children seemed to be in stable condition, but unfortunately, one girl had to be admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

The children had been served a meal consisting of poori-sabzi (a type of bread with vegetable curry) and laddoos (sweet treats) after the flag-hoisting ceremony at the school. Dr. K L Namdeo, the district’s chief medical and health officer (CMHO), provided this information.

After consuming the meal, many of the children began feeling unwell, with some experiencing vomiting and diarrhea. Concerned about their health, they were quickly taken to the local community health center for medical attention.

As one of the girls’ conditions worsened, she was transferred to the Government Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa for more advanced treatment, as explained by Dr. Namdeo.

The incident is troubling and raises questions about the food’s quality and hygiene standards. Investigations will likely be conducted to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning and to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future. The well-being of the affected children will be closely monitored, and efforts will be made to ensure their speedy recovery.
