In a stroke of luck, an Indian expatriate employed as a private driver in Al Ain, UAE, hit the jackpot, winning a grand prize of Dh20 million in a recent lottery draw. Munavar Fairoos, who has been purchasing lottery tickets for five years, struck gold in the latest Big Ticket Live draw, claiming a staggering amount equivalent to around ₹44 crore.
Khaleej Times reports that Fairoos, while being part of a syndicate comprising 30 individuals, is not the exclusive recipient of the prize amount. The winnings are set to be evenly distributed among all the contributors who joined together to purchase the lottery ticket.
Fairoos, when asked about his plans for the prize money, expressed surprise at the unexpected win, stating, “I hadn’t anticipated this. I’m still in shock and need some time to consider my options.”
Similarly, Suthesh Kumar Kumaresan, another Indian, secured Dh1 million on the same day after purchasing a ticket at Abu Dhabi International Airport. He attributed his win to his seven-year-old daughter, who picked the winning numbers. Speaking to representatives from Big Ticket, he shared, “My family is thrilled about the win. We’ve invested in a home in India and intend to utilize the money to settle our interest payments.”
In addition to Fairoos and Kumaresan, ten other fortunate winners secured substantial cash prizes of Dh100,000 in the December 31 lucky draw. These individuals hail from Indian, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Saudi Arabian backgrounds, adding to the diverse pool of victorious participants.
